Define the concept ‘handicraft’.


  •  Handicraft is all about making new things out of the old things. Also handicraft is making some materials being formed by your ideas and concepts. In overall, handicraft is a way to improvise materials and to give the full beauty of all things.


 Identify the three basic elements of handicraft.  Provide 
a description of what you know about the basic elements


  •  Product - Is created by hand or by using only simple tools to serve a purpose or possess a value.
  •  Process - When it focuses on the techniques used, such as weaving, carving, knitting, etc. to create items in hand.
  •  Skill - Talks about the dexterity and facility of the hand in applying art to create the object.

   1. How do handicrafts promote the way of life or   culture of a place?
      - By using handicrafts the culture or the way of living by a certain tribe can be carved on. Also the design being placed in a certain piece of handicraft will reflect on what their culture really is.
·   2. In what ways do entrepreneurship or the entrepreneurs help preserve culture and traditions?
     - The entrepreneurs promotes the handicrafts being made by a certain tribe in order for their culture to be preserved as well as they earned something .
·   3. In what ways do handicraft industries help the entrepreneurs, artisans and the country as a whole?
    - Handicraft industries helps the entrepreneurs by selling different kinds of handicraft so they can earn money and handicraft industries also helps the artist to improve and to me more creative in making design in handicrafts. As a whole, handicraft industries helps us to be more creative while earning and preserving our culture.
·   4. Are there handicrafts that are not suited for boys? Or for girls? What are the reasons and instances behind this perception? Is this kind of thinking productive?
    - All are equal in handling handicraft because each one of us has its own unique way on expressing ideas and design and all of us has a skills to do it.

1.Do I know what a handicraft is?

     - Yes I know what handicraft is but my knowledge about it is still small.   

     2.Do I own a handcrafted item? What handicraft/s do we have in our house?
      - Yes I owned some handicraft item in the house and one of them was made by a person named Francis Kit S. Cabasag. Those handicraft items of mine are use in storing my items.

·    3.Do I like to use handicraft items? What are my reasons for using handicrafts?

    - Yes I like to use handicrafts items because they are unique and very convenient in using.

    4.Do I have parents or relatives who have the skills in doing handicrafts?  What can I learn from them? (If possible, ask your parents)

    - Sad to say I don't know any of my relatives has the skills in handling handicraft. If I had one, im sure that I could learn a lot from him/her .

     5.What handicrafts can I do?

    - I can make a basket came from a news paper by rolling each piece of paper and braid them to form a basket.

     6.What are my skills and talents that may help me in doing handicrafts?

- My wide imagination skills or critical thinking skills can help me to create new ideas and new design that I could use in handicraft.

      7.Do I have the passion to learn skills in handicraft?

- Yes I have the passion for I really like handicraft and through handicraft I could express my art skills.

    8.Do I envision myself being an expert in one handicraft technique? Or entrepreneur for handicraft products?

- Somehow, Yes because my passion and my desire will really bring me on become an expert in handicraft.
